Bored Bored Bored

So its been a quiet week nothing much has happened but here we go into another weekend where I’m planning on getting some stuff sorted.

I want to finish insulating the Van and pick up some stuff I have on order, sorry this post is so boring but that’s been this week

Snow bound :(

So its been a few days since my last post, basically cos nothing has happened. Some mad storm blue in and and turned us into the arctic.

However…. I did manage to get my side bars from fitted because it was too cold to use glue to do insulating inside the van

How to keep warm

So this weekend I spent working on the floor and insulating the van. I had originally purchased some rockwool but then decided against it in favour of plastic bottle insulation as this wouldn’t hold any moisture and would not go mouldy and smelly.

One roll covered one size as a guide, I sprayed glue on to the pre-covered walls which I had previously covered in insulation foil to make a barrier to the outside then added the bottle insulation

It went on quite simply and once in place I taped in with insulation foil awaiting the final covering in more insulation foil.

Locks and more..

The van was back at AML today to get the V-Belt, Oil Sensor and door catches sorted out.

My steering had been tight and squealing since the MOT had been done and I was starting to get arms like Schwarzenegger so it had to be done. Evidently it needed a new belt and tightening up so nothing drastic.

The oil sensor was a strange one. I had checked the oil and topped it up and then out of the blue it started screaming at me 2 days later. I saw on a YouTube video that it was a common fault and that it needed the sensor changing so while the V-belt was being done I thought it was a good time to get it done.

The rear door locks had been changed but the internal fitting would not connect and made it difficult to open due to a missing rod in the mechanism but now all’s good 🙂

Happy Results Day!

I thought it only fair to share my good news. I received an email today following my contact with Van Demon and showing them the pictures of my damaged bumper cover, they have offered me some money back on my damaged chrome bumper protectors as compensation ( I didn’t even ask).

I’m well happy with the customer service. that’s how to do business. I will be doing business with them again and recommend their services as obviously they are professional in the needs and requirements of their customers.

Stars

So I decided yesterday it was too cold to work inside the van and painting was definitely out, so what can I do I thought?

Wheels! the wheels on the van we’re an odd set partly off an old Audi that I had several years ago and one odd one that came from the originals that were on when I bought the van so where should I look? what do I want? and how much should I spend?

I started on eBay then moved to Shpock and rightly so as it turned out, I found a set for sale 15 miles away and after talking to the seller I was off to pick them up.

When I arrived the seller had 2 sets for me to choose from and even knocked £30 of the set that I chose.

We then went on to talk vans as he owned 2 T4s which were parked on his drive. He gave me some good advice which you will be reading about in a future post, so feeling please I took my newly purchased stars and headed for home to get them fitted, which was done at a reasonable price and another job was knocked off my to do list.

Not so glitzy :(

Ok so yesterday I was raving about the bumper guard from Van Demon today in the cold light of seeing it in daylight things have changed a little.

When I received it yesterday I didn’t check it quite as well as I should and failed to notice two slight kinks and some surface scratches, there nothing major but I know that they are there. No doubt over time there will be more scratches so hey ho.

The only thing that I would say on reflection is that if the plastic sleeve had had some inner packing it wouldn’t have moved about and so wouldn’t have got scratched and dented.

Anyway that said here’s a picture of it tested in place.

Here’s the horrible scratches

Bit of glitz

Sorry about yesterday the network went down and I couldn’t get into the site.

Today I received my chrome bumper protector from Van Demon I will show you how it looks once I have fitted it. I just though it would make an interesting addition to the exterior styling.

I’m not fitting it yet as there is still work to be done on the internals and also because it says in the instructions its best fitted once the temprature is mild (at least) to ensure that the 3M glue goes off correctly, and its currently -1 outside.

I must say that the packing and delivery was spot on I wasn’t expecting it to receive it so soon but it arrived the next day from order and very securely packed in a plastic sheath.
