What did you do last weekend?

Its still dark and cold at night so I can’t work on the van, so I thought I would share with you what I did last weekend. Be prepared its nothing exciting lol.

You may remember in an earlier page I told you about Swiss cheese on the arches well just to prove its not just on the arches, when I lifted the floor boards I found that the underneath was just as bad.

It turned out that the rust had also turned up underneath and torn holes in the van bed so it was back to AML again for more welding.

So welding completed I started sealing the floor with Tetra Seal, as you may have seen it froze in the tin but I solved this by putting the tin in hot water and leaving it for 20 mins, then changed the water for fresh hot water.

I looked online and it said that the Tetra Seal can be thinned down with white spirit to be sprayed, so I thinned it down and applied a first coat, I’ll do the next coat next weekend.

Lockdown :(

Well the great CV19 (Corona Virus 19) continues the country has been put into total lock down yesterday, luckily I haven’t ordered any parts for the van as most companies have shut down, however the light in the tunnel is that automotive industry has been allowed to continue.

I’m booking my van back in tomorrow to get the back door locks sorted. Hopefully they will be able to get it sorted out as they only partially replaced the door fittings last time it was in. I also need to get a new V belt fitted as the power steering is playing up and squealing like a piglet.

Welcome folks!

Before you go running away screaming he’s another of those mad camper van types who’s gonna get all techie, let me reassure you I’m no mechanic or a techie type and this site is only about the fun of owning a van and the freedom I hope to enjoy and share with you.

“The open road” said Toad

With this in mind, I’ve put this site together as a journal of my experiences in rebuilding my 1996 Volkswagen T4 called Christine (named after the 1983 film because everyone says she’s got a mind of her own) and the subsequent fun I hope to have in once its completed. Along with an incite to the places I go and the people I meet along my journeys.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you, so buckle up and welcome aboard….
